I love Madlib but I don't think "the Get Over (Move)" is one of his better tunes. The beat just doesn't work with that sample at all to my ears. The original Buzzcocks song is cool though.

@5:
add to your list of sample sources:
* 80s r&b hits
* a loop with no context from anything on blue note (random blue note sample = conscious hip-hop)
* dancehall singles that have been played out for at least three consecutive years

      well, it seems like hip hop samples are either
1) anything by George Clinton
2) anything on Motown
3) something very recent and hip (like Busta and Kanye sampling Daft Punk)
4) ESG's "UFO"
5) SOMETHING COMPLETELY OUT OF LEFT FUCKING FIELD

I think this, among The Move and others you mention, dave, fall underneath #5... #5 is also another reason I still love hip hop

      @1 My bad. Did you know Pixies also refute the "the" but also suffer the fate of people using that article with their name? It's true.
@2 Yes, agreed. I pointed this out with one of my I'll Give You a Break posts, re: the Move's "Feel Too Good."
@3 Good point. Buzzcocks singer Pete Shelley even wrote liner notes to Can's Canibalism comp. That being said, "Boredom" is not an obvious tune to sample.

      dude, Buzzcocks were total Can/Neu! heads by their own admission. They got rhythm.

I'm waiting for the eventual "Are Everything" sample.. so everyone can think the sampler is sampling Prince's "Raspberry Beret"

      Can has got beats though, hip-hop and DJs have been slipping by not using more non-'Vitamin C' breaks from Can. Buzzcocks though? I'll have to hear it.

One fertile genre that, in my eyes, has never really been touched upon by hip-hop producers is the first wave of glam rock. There are some serious beats to be plundered once you get past the feather boas.
