(Though <a href="http://lineout.thestranger.com/lineout/archives/2012/11/23/lola-the-boombox-cat">my cat</a> is accustomed to loud music&#8212;I rarely use headphones&#8212;she tensed up a little when I played this thing. The last time that happened? When I streamed the <a href="http://www.dragcity.com/products/ensemble-pearl">Ensemble Pearl</a> album.)</p> <p>To date, <strong>His Electro Blue Voice</strong> has released several singles, EPs, and compilation tracks, but their first full-length will bear the <strong>Sub Pop</strong> imprint. With titles like "Death Climb" and "Tumor," I can only assume they like it&#8212;their music, their movies, their lives*&#8212;on the dark and gritty side. More specifically, the Longest Drum Session in a Retail Store. It&#8217;s for some sort of O Music Awards thing. The statement didn&#8217;t say anything about <strong>1) the rules for peeing</strong>, 2) what officially constitutes &#8220;drumming,&#8221; or 3) whether or not it&#8217;s an advertising ploy like the phone commercial that Jay-Z ran yesterday in the NBA finals. It also didn&#8217;t say whether the real Andrew W.K. or one of his body-doubles would be the one doing it. If it's a true "consecutive 24-hours," let's hope whoever's doing it will be using a catheter.</p> <p>Cause you can't say it's drumming for 24 consecutive hours if you get up to go to the bathroom.</p> <p>Apparently, the Roots drummer ?uestlove will be playing with him for the first part of the record-setting attempt, which <strong>takes place in an Oakley store?</strong> Where this Oakley store is, they did not say. Throughout the 24-hour period, surprise drummers will be stopping by to play with Andrew, and keep him going, and try on some sweet Oakley shades. Previous O Music Awards have included Chiddy of Chiddy Bang setting the record for the longest ever freestyle rap, and Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips setting the world record for most shows played in a 24-hour period (multi-city).</p> <p>Maybe Andrew has been doing some serious training in preparation, but I&#8217;m going to say, if this is a real thing, and the real Andrew W.K., I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;s going to be able to pull it off. Talk to me at hour 20, if he makes it that far. 24 consecutive hours of drumming, from someone who&#8217;s not a decathlete? I don&#8217;t know. Maybe Andrew has changed his all-ages/straight-edge ways and will be ingesting <strong>the finest, rawest Colombian cocaine available to man</strong> at regular intervals. Or maybe he's going to eat an entire cocaine tree. According to Consequence of Sound, the bands lineup will be <a href="http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/06/the-replacements-announce-reunion-shows/">Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson</a>, and a yet-to-be-announced backing band.</p> <p>The Replacements haven't played since 1991. Westerberg hasn't performed live since 2007. But: This also isn't really the Replacements, right? It's Westerberg and Stinson and whatever lucky musicians they bring on stage with them (by the way, who do you think it'll be?). And, even if you're stoked about the band getting back together, you've gotta admit it's a little weird seeing such an influential, beloved act now <a href="http://riotfest.jcrf9879.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/chicago-lineup-june.jpg">smooshed together on a poster</a> with Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy. Ugh. You deserve better, Replacements.</p> <p>I can think of exactly one band reunion I'd go out-of-my-mind crazy for&#8212;one band that I'd be willing to fly across the country to see play again (if it came to that), and that's <strong>Jawbreaker</strong>. Okay, and maybe <strong>Botch</strong>. Well, and <strong>Pretty Girls Make Graves</strong>, too. And, yes, I did get excited (and I am still am excited) for the upcoming <strong>Waxwing</strong> reunion. Fine, there's more than one.</p> <p>But even with that, I have to admit that <strong>band reunions aren't breaking news</strong>. It's no longer shocking. In the post-Tupac-hologram world, it really has gotten to the point where a reunion feels like a gimmick&#8212;every band does it, <strong>every fan expects it</strong>, and it can often come off as a lackluster money grab with the same amount of passion as Hollywood's remake of <em>Footloose</em> (barf). Sure, I've gotten wrapped up in the excitement of being able to hear a favorite song sung live one more time, but I've also seen reunited bands play like they're only there to please the nostalgic crowd that's throwing money at them. Witnessing that enough times has dampened the seemingly untouchable love for those bands. It would've been better in the long run if the band stayed broken up and I forever pined for them. It's like finally getting asked out by your long-time crush only to find out <strong>they don't know the difference between your and you're</strong>. Heartbreak.</p> <p>There have been exceptions, of course, there are always exceptions&#8212;Refused's 2012 Vancouver show was one of the best live performances I've ever seen. Holy shit, it was great. And seeing the Dismemberment Plan again at NYC's Webster Hall in 2011 made my heart so, so happy. I'm not cynical enough to say all reunions are bullshit. But I do wonder, at what point will it stop surprising people? For the Sound City gig here in London we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn't make it. Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with PJ Harvey. Kurt loved her and we love her and we thought, 'Yeah, what would we do?' I said: 'God, what if we were to do 'Milk It' from 'In Utero' with Polly singing?' We all looked at each other like, 'Woah, that would be amazing&#8230;' and then she couldn't do it!"</p></blockquote> <p>Thankfully, he admits that <strong>a Nirvana reunion can't be taken lightly</strong>: "The thing is, it's sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have to be right because you want to pay tribute. County sheriff's detectives say they plan to question Brown about the altercation that reportedly occurred Sunday night in the 7200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. In it, Visconti reveals that the singer is insistent there won't be any future live shows. </p> <p>When asked if there was any talk in the studio with the band of how the tracks would sound live, Visconti replied: "He&#8217;s fairly adamant he&#8217;s never gonna perform live again&#8230; One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We&#8217;re not'.
