...It's true, he does! Chase told me about his recent trip to New Zealand where he flew around in a helicopter and photographed pro-skiers. (Awesome!)

Chase hosted a party at his Wallingford studio on Friday night, with musical performances and yummy snacks and beverages. Another event that Chase is known for hosting is the "Songs For Eating and Drinking" that has featured local musicians such as Blue Scholars, Fences, The Saturday Knights and Mad Rad.

Get Up Kids: "Thanks for Still Giving a Shit"

The Get Up Kids are back. Last night, in front of a packed house at Neumos, they played nearly every track from the 1999 classic Something to Write Home About, and few favorites from Four Minute Mile, On a Wire, and Guilt Show. And early on in the set they also slipped in a new song called "Keith Case," implying that this reunion tour is more than just a temporary regrouping to celebrate the anniversary of their anthemic emo classic.

But as exciting as it is that they have a new song (and even more exciting that it didn't suck, appealing to their anthemic pop sensibilities more than their boring last record Guilt Show), last night was about last decade—everyone in the room wanted to hear the classics, and they proved it by singing along to every word of every song they played. I could barely hear singer Matt Pryor over the choir of voices that filled the room, and in many cases he gave up on singing altogether, letting the crowd take the lead during many of the choruses. It was incredible and so much fun. It was classic Get Up Kids.

Towards the end of the show, guitarist Jim Suptic perfectly summed up the evening (and perhaps this entire reunion) thusly: "Thanks for still giving a shit." Should they decide to record again, I think that should be the name of the next record.
