I take it this guy never made it to the Cha Cha

This is great! The Stranger could start a Christmas in July wish program! I would definitely pay up to $15 for this show.

My Mom said the only time she saw my Dad cry was after the fatal plane crash of Lynyrd Skynyrd 1977...yeah I think you don't know how much this would mean to this guy

The Stranger and Molly Hatchet man, it's a match made in.....Summer Suprise!

...Well, did you call him back?

Yes, we can't reveal all the details yet, but imagine this: Molly Hatchet plays the Stranger Genius Awards. Summer Surprise!

Unreal. Bombs bursting in air.

How bout Atlas? Hatchet at Atlas, with Skynyrd. Has a ring to it. History making.

How many original members are there in the band?

This guy is the champion of the world.

JZ--Tell him that that it's a brilliant idea, that he's a genius business man and if he can deliver Molly Hatchet, that The Stranger will totally give him a year's free subscription.

the ironic nostalgia is cute. i'd probably enjoy a local band covering molly hatchet, as i would enjoy seeing one of their rad album covers tattooed across someone's face, but i really couldn't tell you one song by them.

one of my only connections to mh is through the steady street performer on the udistrict avenue. you know the guy. he wore the m.c. escher shirt for the longest time, not older than 35, has a huge repetoire, surrounded by punks, sells his cd wrapped in a supermarket styrofoam and plastic wrap meat container, dirty fingernails. you know the guy. i usually buy him a grande tea after 5 or 6 songs. over the last year, each set i join in on, we always do Straigt To Hell by the Clash - very liberating to sing/shout those words loudly for the sidewalk passers-by.

anyway, one particular dude(in his 50s/60s), who's maybe there 3 out of 5 times i stop by to join the chorus, is a molly hatchet fan. we sometimes whisper asides while the circus-y coolness is happening in front of us. one day, amidst talky of elton john, NIN, others, he went into a minute long dissection of molly hatchet. i don't really remember anything he said, except for getting the distinct impression he was There back in the day when concerts were rebelliously cool. polite, nice quiet-ish man, who you can hear humming along with the rest of us. check it out.

garrett--you know molly hatchet's "flirtin' w disaster," you just done know you do. classic third-tier dazed and confused-style classic southern rock. its actually a kickass song in a choogling, CCR kinda way.

these days its all about the county fair circuit for molly hatchet. theyre still big in the south.

Wow. Molly Hatchet? Are you kidding me?

Maybe they could get April Wine or Aldo Nova too!
